For the occasion we chose the academic form and place (the Ceremonial Hall of New Bulgarian University) where our partners from the Student Council of New Bulgarian University helped us with the arrangement. The opening of the event was with a presentation of the ReeLife Movie Camp program for disenfranchised youth (unequal social status), where they learn how to work as a team and how to develop social skills in the process of shooting a movie. In a very Bulgarian Tradition, the technical equipment proved its character, but thankfully it did not become an obstacle for the audience in the Hall to enjoy the short movie of 10 minutes created by the pupils of SOS – Kinderdorf. Miss Maria Averina shared with us that this experience was unforgettable not only for the kids of SOS-Kinderdorf, but for the whole crew who took part in the implementation of the project. We wished good luck to Cacy Angelova and Miss Averina and we hope to become witnesses to many more movies.
Olga Koeva have prepared for us a short program on Schubert and she was escorted with (prolonged and) warm applauses. The sightless pianist is a student from the National Musical School “Lyubomir Pipkov” and from this year a holder of Leo Club Sofia’s bursary.
Mister David Sifkin, the Counselor for Press and Culture at the US Embassy in Sofia congratulated the young musician and the initiators of the event and laid the beginnings of an informal and cordial discussion, encouraging the participants to talk about the things they find important and helps develop themselves. He himself shared with the audience about his dream to travel and write and how he has achieved it. He talked about the exotic places he visited, for some even more exotic ways and vehicles for transportation, which helped him move from Japan through India and Iran, Africa and Europe… “The most important thing is to be happy” – was Mr. Sifkin’s conclusion.
The young Lions were very happy to decorate their cloths with another badge – with compliments for the feast from the District’s executive. Two huge cakes with the logo of Leo Club and Student Council of NBU, “sweetened” the mood of participants and guests from Lions Club “Sofia-Sredetz”, of friends from the Peace Corps and club “ Unesco – Leonardo Da Vinci.”
This time, was it excitement or what, something happened with the photos. So, even without illustrations, I would like to thank the Leos – Mila and Deyan, Slav and Ivan, Albena and Geo, Jordan and Nikolay.
